It kept calling to me... until I heard the trash truck coming - and I hurried across the street in a mad panic to claim it. It then sat in my garage for awhile while I brainstormed ideas for it's use. It appears to be an old table top, warped on one side with circular sweaty glass rings. I put my art on the opposite side.
This is what I landed on:

My youngest covered it with my help with bits of magazine pages, mod-podged all over.
I then bought stickers at the Dollar Store... and layed them down, in my quote of choice.
We spray-painted the whole thing white and then lifted the stickers back off to reveal the colors beneath.
I sanded the whole thing slightly to reveal a bit of texture... and left the sides unpainted. We hung it up in the stairway landing that goes to my kids bedrooms. That hallway has become a gallery of their art... enhanced by this.

Almost a year later, I still love our project and need it stored somewhere for easy access. Now, when asked for photos and insights -- this will be easier to share than searching my photo archives and verbally rambling on about it...

To create this:
The kids voted as a class on their favorite quote from options I provided. We ended up blending two quotes with the top votes - because they went so well together.
I spent many hours at the top of a very tall ladder issuing instructions to wiggly kids down below (that didn't always recall which appendage might be right or left). My models loved the experience as much as I did though. My daughter is the letter "R," which required we creatively lengthen her left leg by sliding her boot down her foot a bit.

In art class, the kids created 6" x 6" art squares in patterns of their choice, with black sharpie outlining. I then cut these down to star shapes which I layered and layered upon themselves with other embellishments: wire, brads, circles, etc. to create the border.
I printed all the photos on matte paper and cut around the little bodies/letters. The letters were stuck to a black matte board with scrapbooking glue dots.
The kids signed the back of the frame and were so, so proud. As was I.
At the auction, my husband got a little overzealous on driving the bids up. Accidentally, he bought it!! We ended up gifting it to my daughter's classroom and the kids loved that they could see it the remainder of the year.

I'm not ready to let my blogs completely die, but the fact of the matter is - I just don't think about blogging very often. I was, however, just managing my photo archives and tripped over a few little projects that I'll post here - over the next few days. Let's see if this little effort incents a recommitment to being creative and blogging about it! First up - is figuring out how the new Blogger works. It appears things have improved since my last post!

A friend contacted me many moons ago about a random file cabinet she was getting rid of. I took it off her hands and began planning its make-over. Long ago, a lovely blogger also sent me a wonderful stash of sheet music. I've horded it all these years and finally made some stuff happen with it. The music is quite old, a little yellowed and the covers were bright and seem a little mid-century modern. {My sincerest thanks to the blogger, whom I can't recall her name?}

The music sheets now adorn the backsides of a built-in shelving unit, in our hallway. It's definitely dressed up a bland space and gave it some character. I just wish it would distract more from the clutter that accumulates here. The shelves host a hodge-podge of leftover decorations & need some styling!

The file cabinet has been reinvented to house my kids' art supplies in this little nook, which is located off of our playroom. I used the covers from the sheet music to mod-podge a little lively onto the old file cabinet.

It came out so well... I had to inform my friend that she may not have it back. ;)
Now, I'm off to go straighten all those pictures that have gone wonky in the art room...Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16674798336974205405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12431247.post-83441661745992289152011-02-04T16:02:00.003-06:002011-02-04T16:12:28.218-06:00Storage needed.Project "make-sense-out-of-the-playroom" continues. What do do with the 14,096 plastic Dinosaurs? {well... I tried to donate a ton of them to the 1st grade's weekly prize box. But, apparently, my daughter noticed. And, she keeps bringing them back home each week!} So, a storage idea was in order.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS6wHM5wzTqnVUb1nhyphenhyphenPbdEBTs701V3hTTnaKXFKg3Qv8QZHE1MkC9Kx7A4MFES3dY-EEf76q8VRZWSSW_H8KYcmRiosdQancuM6ZKbqtALwVVIDTYiBfNHRGxiCnhaA8Tl7vVrA/s400/IMG_7548.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569960001477489042" />
A Richard Scarry book (Peasant Pig) was found thrifting, and the kids determined the story line was creepy. (i.e. last year we made different ones for boys and girls, separated into bags - and Kenzie managed to give every single boy a girl one, and vice versa). So, this year...with two kids delivering, I decided to keep it simple. Last year, I'd earmarked this idea from Alicia... and am so pleased to have these done in early February (a benefit of two snow days in a row, thanksverymuch). They make the kids smile..and me too.

Simply take your photo, with kiddo's arm outstretched. Doctor it at picnik with words and simple embellishments. Cut slits above and below the hand and insert sucker. Done. & Done. Easy to deliver and very pleasing!Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16674798336974205405noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12431247.post-74945205694325354572010-12-16T15:05:00.002-06:002010-12-16T15:28:04.850-06:00Back in the crafty saddle...We've moved to a new house, to a new city, and we're loving every second of it. But, I've found that I'm very inspired to be creative again (not that it ever really waned, but I just lost the art of documenting it for awhile!) I've been making Christmas gifts like crazy and mid-stream thinking of how I'll photograph the complete project. I.e. I still "think" like a blogger.

And, I'm finding that it's very difficult to describe things over the phone to those friends who cheerlead my creative endeavors. As I was emailing photos of my latest project - it occurred to me:

I kind of miss having my crafty blog!

So, without further rambling about my absence, the why's, how's etc. I am loving these upcycled artworks I just finished. We have a large spare living space in the new house, which we have corralled the kiddo's toys in. My Mama graciously gifted us with the funds for a "Make-over" for the room. So, I assigned Kenzie as decorator and as result - we have an orange room with a chalkboard wall! We've got chairs and a table, storage.... all kinds of fun wild colored objects have been crammed in there. I've still got another few projects up my sleeve... but, I need a breather. I've been running full speed ahead on projects for a long while - and with the holidays pending... it's time to change gears.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZKXyWM3BRchvuzj4y1wkCCTSjY6tUY8pQq-_cuVAf8BhVVdIe-0N3_rbn1U7LI-yaLmnxZTKvAqsfm4zWoZ-m6mXY9PCDjvEWvh5JRmC6D39Lytxit_YufliPKcTQZ4dg4xhS1w/s400/IMG_7513.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551389478054378690" />

These were all pieces of wall art that moved with us, but I couldn't find a spot for. So, with a little magazine paper, mod podge, paint, and a few little hands to help - I made three new Upcycled Wall Art pieces for the playroom.

The large piece is an old magnetic chalkboard. I left the center blank to hang Kenzie & Rylan's Masterpieces on. The words are a Dr. Seuss quote that I amended to fit the space I had to work with. I hope he doesn't mind. ;)
It says:
(starting at the top and reading clockwise) "You are you. You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. Steer yourself any direction you choose."

I also made one that states the basic tenants of a good time ... Just as a reminder for all those little people making messes, er, I mean playing...in this room:

"Play hard, laugh loud, smile often, Be Kind!"

They kinda make me smile. They're loud and big and fit right in with my daughter's design scheme! And, I had great fun making them...although dinner tonight is still a mystery!!

So, I'm wondering if anyone is still subscribed to be my "friend" here? :) Do say hello.Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16674798336974205405noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12431247.post-66862494802292625082009-07-01T11:39:00.002-05:002009-07-01T11:48:35.214-05:00Stepping Away<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTaKd74EP-u598vLfDbLje0KCdRAq5jv8fq94m5vDa2o4m-LWhVX0kAfjQ0Xavg5jg1VAgQpQ8LvXAr-nCP82ZxMvkWfBmFgQ9jhFKDX46DgCZTCoiwWIVCfhRCKxQQWoFNMw82A/s320/IMG_3743.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353532890386933570" />

Let's face it. I think I've lost my craft bloggy mojo. I'm thinking of stepping away from Mama's Doodles, and giving my full energies to maintaining my kiddos blogs (with the sole motive of printing them into books, to serve as their lifebooks). But, while I mull that over...

The kids and I created a big hit for Father's day. A stepping stone which heavily used Kenzie's poking finger to achieve. Doug loves it. And, Kenzie's completely proud of the outcome. It sits in a front garden, slightly shaded so that maybe our photos won't fade quite as quickly. We used a stepping stone kit...and a big heap of found objects to create it. We also used up about a weeks worth of brainstorming powers in coming up with the zillions of reasons why we love our daddy (supplied by Kenzie) to be printed out in the circle and give it extra special sentimental value.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5q7ovmbsr8zS1OSutwKOHnrI5fJUBZlH5sqrFUl07buhcmDzgraijvIBWQ12WdDPQQfk1Q-S6kN9eX0nf8pQxoa9tu5jhZGaC_2BzToJyMNq7OPymtiqaPh7b2cG2bHvClTbgJw/s320/IMG_4095.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353532884707480722" />

Happy Summering!Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16674798336974205405noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12431247.post-72375005444389891492009-03-12T11:57:00.008-05:002009-03-12T12:17:33.247-05:00Craft Book'erWhat could be more inspiring to a defunct craft blogger? Books! Especially two that include projects of my own. Projects done long ago - back when my mind thought more in blog posts and project lists than in poopy diapers and chasing wobbly walkers from the stool to the dog water...exclaiming "no, no" and then repeating!!

Two books arrived this week in the mail. Two books that I'd nearly forgotten I was part of. I've got three projects in Sweet Booties (booties, a bib and matching tutu), and two projects in the Pillowcase Challenge book (a superhero cape and a dress). So what if my name is spelled wrong in one? It's still me! :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 170px; height: 170px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikbMuErcGNEvKX4A84ycFIcOQ-0LVeDHBBseKJoePg1zKFTGGrtt_62on56Dr7MGnCjbTDbo6eW_KmI4o68JSJPeFa51c56jHZE6shevIVpXYczwAv-_oxwp9G8RE10SZHx8iOnQ/s400/9781600594021M.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312346951999129314" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 170px; height: 169px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN8MPD5YdXos-3s9JEDo6nWA82tFUcY0gA9-1IpQGJkhARo5WqjUwcJtrfFgxTpqtnIWFKnallmhjfA82N0_RUGFdaUavi2FsarkUfRxWaO5MJVdINdxgFwl_qKSCDsjutz31ZYw/s400/9781600593154M.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312346952956176642" />

...in tandem with the release of the Pillowcase Challenge book - they are developing some Pillowcase Craft Challenge fun. And, the last time I was productive in the craft room...well, I can't even remember when. But, for all things there must come a time...

And, the time came when I was asked by a friend to create some art for her nursery. Now, before you go giving me too much credit - the animals and theme came from a table cloth that she used to make her bedding and decor from. She just gave me the leftover bits to make the wall art out of. I cut all the little farm critters out - glammed them up a bit with some fun stitchery and added them to these little vignettes that I made from the rest of the left over fabrics. Easy peasy. Except, I'll bet she wishes I'd been a bet quicker than a month & a half.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 253px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdzQnoj3lL-_9V79xIoFNVKUtLw9I48emRqcTFdg2ORG9lY-_O3wqKwBqvmtAJVm3LHxrkTHD6A3gu4pWcEIFEj3zcgmdfkBdDu99c1kr6kcq85kzp_8ouF3h9cDzO3KUbZ86fpg/s320/IMG_9027.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296104345729861202" />

I'm really embarrassed to post these pictures...but it's getting dark out, and my friend called and wants the art NOW, if not sooner. So, I shot these on a white wall, that I didn't notice was dirty. So, I just vignetted the dirty white wall out of the shots.
So be it.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 257px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiRYHV6yszCGmZbic0Si-m9Bq_VH8hTd4-UoqfjmglcLys211HwjZS51XbBlt3dYM8wuo3Ro6BzwruqCnh9uNtdviZsxocrqNLETyU8syglz37p2imrsLF2eoHquZjNHYLflhIng/s320/IMG_9029.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296104341132332834" />

Each montage is wrapped around an 8x11 canvas, with a fun colored border around each side. I've been mulling this over for the past few days, just itching to do a blog post about it when I found time. In pondering all those big toy recalls of the recent past..the lead found in toys, & not to mention the yucky phthalates and BPA in other toys and baby bottles - I can appreciate the efforts. BUT, a new law has been passed that intends to address these problems. It's called the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act, and it states that anything sold for use by children younger than the age of 12 must be first tested for lead and be phthalate-free. Wouldn't that be wonderful??

Well, there's just one major problem. It applies to handmade goods, as well. Like the stuff I make...and the bazillions of great wares on Etsy. At a cost of up to $1500 per item, lead testing would eliminate most handmade children's items. It would be devastating to folks like me who rely on our little hobby/trade to make some extra dollars! My other concern, in addition to folks like me going out of business, is that this regulation will take away the right of choice -- in regard to the types of toys and clothing we buy for our children. If handmade is illegal, then parents will be stuck purchasing mass produced items, with no no option for purchasing clever, unique, and safe handmade stuffs from me, on Etsy, etc. I don't like this at all!

Please take some simple steps to make your voice heard. It's important for all of us who make, sell, and buy handmade! Go here to do what you can!Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16674798336974205405noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12431247.post-55470227622918213042008-12-11T15:24:00.004-06:002008-12-11T15:31:08.382-06:00My Kit<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5xrMgN29rp_FVQfpzLv1Y970vLvcS4N7KF-rtZX5JQXfkTTX7MgM2X1kIsfB3zmZBadZtT-qPH1956Dv5aozHNO1ppEzltPR3Jgxs1PUQ3oP8dbdhPS2uLhNGdMfW86PfYYAupQ/s400/111.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278648066254027490" />

Well hi there. Excuse the sporadic posting. We are trying to keep up with the holiday shopping, advent activities, etc. and I feel a bit bah humbug about the time running thin. It's such a lovely time of year - but with so much to do!

In exciting news - my first scrapbook kit went live today! Scrapbookers - you'll have to share your insights... You can buy it here along with many more lovey handmade digital art kits. I've got some more in the works... but, hopefully I'll manage the time to conclude them before the applicable season ends. I don't think there will be much want for a "Winter Wonderland" kit in the middle of summer next year??

Wishing you Merry Holidays. May the gift of time to enjoy it all be bestowed upon us all!Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16674798336974205405noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12431247.post-10573856201880885132008-12-08T14:07:00.001-06:002008-12-08T14:07:40.895-06:00First Reflective Photo attempt for 2008

First Reflective Photo attempt
Originally uploaded by mama's doodles.
This was an accidental catch while trying to take a shot of my kids & I in another reflective ornament. I've been working (albeit, slowly, around the aforementioned family illness infestations) on some projects for the The Red Porch . They'll be going live soon with a new website with some innovative new handmade digital art scrapbooking products!

The goods aren't quite ready for sale yet, but they will be soon. In anticipation,they're offering an early-bird promotion to anyone who creates a profile, {and uploads at least one layout before Nov 29th}. Those who do this get a free kit before they launch the store.

If you're crafty scrapper, I'd highly recommend you hop, skip or run right over... I'm officially a very terrible blogger. The boy has just recovered from our second round of Croup, and I promise to break down in tears the next time I hear him barking {couging} like a seal. Today is beautiful, and he is healthy, so while the gal played at preschool, we swung. My camera was precariously propped in the yard to catch this photo.

The tail is making it's rounds. Its travel itinerary is drawing to a close, so if you'd like to play, let me know and I'll start another round. Tails were added and very speedily depleted from the shop . I'm barely holding my blogs together these days. I haven't checked my bloglines in ages either. Can't say it's been a very painful transition, although I didn't consciously decide on the hiatus. It's amazing what you can accomplish during the day when you're not "watching the computer," as my daughter calls it.

I've been a wee bit obsessed with the Twilight Book Series. I've finished reading the 4 book series in a short span of time and perhaps now can see past reading... to maybe blogging a bit? I dunno. I said I'd be a better blogger a few posts ago, and then didn't hold true to my promise. wink, wink. Oops.

Anyway, we are Junking our Pumpkin again this year. So far, we've spent many hours with tissue paper and mod podge, followed by immense amounts of glitter application. I'm following the gals whims. (note to self: hide the mod podge!) So far, we've got a wonky looking tissue covered glittery pumpkin.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiogb3EZNDa002DGQe7Ay1a2POZ60CDd4Vz6YelClrqosNR1GwyIy2zwQhS6agWuJqdF0xVCmhcqk2Qt0pLzuxGcN9mM9bTbfeRk4E9rN6t0IIw-Akga5DHwAVK-GVjcqJ_vtDJng/s320/IMG_6618.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260908949566270610" />

Next up: The junking part. And, I had lofty goals. I got so little done around the demanding babe - yet I've still got the grins from the little accomplishments.

I've got fresh pics of my sillies throughout the home now, and I like very much the feeling of newness everywhere I look.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGL8NxCk2uckrF5Qn9K06RU5ThL1xdB3zd0pThI7O8n0sAjeLutAusqjSFu21Zeep_7m2K9DDSZQ0KORAc6y4Ck06n_fJCs5WGpBEBaXv5quD2BmKakxswNm9FBM4PFIQT3rRsxg/s320/IMG_4795.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244072745272575122" />

I've always loved this montage. It's something I started in California - and it's how Kenzie knew her family, even though we infrequently saw them. It's solely black and whites, wonkily arranged in an organic form. The big photos are 8x10, so it's really quite large as a whole. The montage is the view from our front door when you glance up the staircase. It's the last thing the kids see as we walk them to bed. They can tell Nana's, Poppy & "Unca" Chance goodnight, each night on the way by. The photos have all been taken by myself or Doug. Some of them aren't even the most fabulous shots, but they all have a special memory or feeling we are trying to preserve for another moment. I swap fresh ones in ..and keep the outdated collection in an album dating back to Kenzie's birth. I actually celebrate it with a blog post. Those little daily doodles might just freshen up the naked trees and dirty snow, when that time comes. Blogging seems to give me a fresher perspective when little things are new.. just as the updated montage has done for the house. Completed projects, inspirations, fresh posts. It's so satisfying.

I've also been piddling with some artwork...but due to licensing contracts...I won't be able to share it until it goes live. Pooh. That's what I need to master --> the art of the unbloggable. Hmnnn. It feels like daily, I organize a post in my mind and the next thing I know I'm distracted by a certain 4 year olds exclamation (an example was heard as I was typing that last sentence) "MoOOOooM. Where's Pippy the Skunk?"

Huh, where IS Pippy the skunk, and who the hell is THAT anyway??
Suddenly, my lofty blogging goal is sidetracked by the mundane.

Today's weather report feels partly whiney with a 89% chance of manic household childproofing. 0% chance at creativity.

How do YOU do it? So many of you manage lovely blogs full of creative daily whimsies while I'm distracted in pooey diapers and missing skunks. Do tell how you make each day lovely on your blog despite the same challenges. Because now that Pippy the Skunk has crawled out of a pile of Moon Sand and is now busily mutilating Mum's plants, it's time to go feed a certain baby some mushy baby food. And, the blog must wait. "I" must wait. But, hopefully, your wisdoms will be inspiring to this tired Mama.... I'm ready. Lay it on me. Please.Stacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16674798336974205405noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12431247.post-7332574355625692312008-08-18T21:54:00.005-05:002008-08-18T22:26:19.690-05:00Another {wo}man's junk......has become my treasure.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWhqLAfUWmxsnuIh4uuNyYSI_SOQz186GhAGNnH9Rwpl5DDiq0VTBccLoEiZWaMapCUebBipoPj-q4TevPnJb2Yf3hzppHzHzSdC992QTL19IpOx5ywDSlcD3hIZi5z45vwftywA/s320/studio.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236062436803905890" />

I'm so excited about this cabinet, I can barely stop petting it. Rylan's just at the age where he's enjoying the tags moreso than the toy it's attached to...so I've made a second one. This makes a great shower gift too. (Thanks Cindy!)

The process was simple and is summarized in the following tutorial:

1. Cut 2 pieces of Minky fabric to be 14" x 14". (I used two different colors, but you may use two of the same instead).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPSV77WqgQfMKCIsylOWFZbdHkSjzSTNxJiqblAonQKxw2GBvGdtK5oi5gkyHRm51cgc6lbRf60KOQJpBou9Tk2iaPeLBgkgd6E24lwy0fd42bfCcExDPpeTdJCzDDSz0k7jq0Eg/s320/IMG_3983.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234094347102122338" />

2. Rob your ribbon stash to select numerous colors, sizes and textures of visually interesting ribbon. These will become the tags sewn along the side of the blankie. Cut ribbons into varying lengths, between 2 & 4 inches in length. Use loud colors so your little twiddler can't resist the tags. I added 12 tags to two sides of the blanket. You may adjust this according to your preferences.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGaz6OVRFv8bq99ioXAPoBcI-7qEE3VKZFTNgSTD3ZvQGOFfmr5-68BkKofL_xNv_Seop98UEe7dGbTmi3hMB_dddWx5ifaPqeZ5upshTUMvJq8ipNnbe7vb1WQTW59yDp9x6v9Q/s320/IMG_3985.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234094348329402930" />

3. Folding Ribbons in half, (so that they form a double-sided tag), create tags to be about 1" to 2" long, for safety reasons. Align the raw edges of the ribbon with the raw edges of the Minky blanket fabric - so right sides are touching. Pin Ribbons in place, nicely spaced along two edges of the blankie.

I did opposing edges, so that it leaves the middle & two sides of the little blankie, nice & snuggly. You can embellish any combination of two edges or even all four sides with the ribbon tags, as you prefer.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKG9GLx3MMY19TKXxYC_1gQPeTYQ3dsPuTD72K-Whlgp0hOmM2BM8Li5N_xx0FJVlCqXd7K_JoJDjHtBLUgRyV4Uzpp5KzmcZRxjlEz1vUlcH8lSlgWyBbS0GMQNSLvS1G691UWw/s320/IMG_3988.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234094359907764466" />

4. Attach ribbons to one side of the blanket with a single seam, removing pins along the way. Attach ribbons on the second side of the blanket with another single seam.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKvPsURF-eykkmbL-58AcadSQJ97O0g3S-b5GpcXg7lkNUfpKRmDC05AEfXGmVoAD6fE6IX9mSDDqdlBlt0-71qQGKWTedtGrTDbc0WH9w4tS_NevjW9d5O667wkPYK0FgcSUQPw/s320/IMG_3991.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234094359044969394" />

5. Cut away excess ribbon overhang, if necessary.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK3S4Cse4riSW9pcwGdswe_nFMohbyx8hcvbG24Ismli0LSWHRlOFArpZCnxTLej2dYCehX777xepRfHrq7i5Vs-1O2GJXrwnKyilHMfafDnEir_Arndi8BhvUJmYenGgQoADKkw/s320/IMG_3992.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234096433771419874" />

6. Fold your ribbons to the right side of the fabric on both ends. Sandwich the ribbons between both pieces of Minky fabric. Pin in place around all four blanket sides. Your blanket will be inside out, at this point. Run a seam around the perimeter, leaving a three inch gap un-sewn. Using the gap, turn your blanket right side out.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg529kblHiNrWrTTIvMbieFfWeyxiyAZDfRdHBmEJHb78_AJPvvGqP1qV02AnAx4DqfDMAV-HWp89MndAqHB1nSihi-bzyisoSOugXTxDrE7qeIcmu0RoOEzltYfvZ5-dXwsbz9Pw/s320/IMG_3993.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234096439159263458" />

7. After turning the blanket right side out, push out the corners. Fold the edges of the opening over to close up the gap, & pin closed. Run a final seam around the entire blanket perimeter, careful to align both sides of the fabric correctly. This seam is decorative in nature and will keep the two sides laying nicely - as they may go wonky when washed if left unsewn.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRzqQVVvDBGGGVWjmBkrED0hGkqN8UzApm6jQdmPqBeu1vJy35838F47ibY66FvEyPPJONM_Pw-IDjhk-aHDyGu5W_MtvBjjMbvedJuN7KLE4O_lfg7Le5BNgClSYLIqEq1NyVKg/s320/IMG_3997.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234096443967770370" />

8.
